This is a warning to all of you considering Telus for anything, cellphone, wireless internet, cable, anything!

I went in to Telus last June to get a new cell phone because mine wasn't working properly. The sales associate mentioned to me a new promotion they were having on wireless internet and cable. At this point I knew I was going to be moving out of my apartment at any time once I found the right place. I told him I was concerned about signing a three year contract when alot of the places I was considering had all these things included. He assured me that if I signed the contract and I moved and either my utilities were all included or my landlord would not want me to do any re-wiring to get the service I could get out of the contract without paying the cancellation fees. I should have had him put it in paper.

So I signed it. With that assurance I thought it would be ok, but I wasn't completely sold. When I had to call to set up an appointment to get them in to set everything up I asked the person at head office whether what he said was true. I figured that if what he told me in the store was incorrect I could get out of the contract easily before everything was set up. I explained my situation to her, told her I might be moving and asked what would happen if my new landlord didn't want to let me use Telus. She again told me that I wouldn't have to pay the cancellation fees because it was something beyond my control. I think I must have asked her for her confirmation of this so many times I seemed paranoid. But again I made a mistake and didn't get her to write it down. Over the span of a few months I would call Telus several more times and after explaining each particular issue would again repeat this question.

I didn't find a new apartment until nearly a year later. And its perfect, it is everything a university student could want and more. But guess what? All the utilities are included; great, no? I thought it was perfect until I called Telus.

The first loyalty agent I talked to was SO rude. She basically told me that even though I had been scamed I still had to pay for cancelling. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she said she wouldn't connect me because she didn't see the point. I basically told her to shove it where the sun don't shine and hung up. I then called the store that I signed up for the contract in and the sales associate wasn't there, he'd left the country and the company, odds are he wouldn't have remembered me a year later anyways. I talked to another sales associate and he said that I should request to talk to a supervisor there before telling them about my problem that way I'd be most likely to get a better solution. He said that though they didn't deal with contracts there he understood my predicament and would have waved the cancellation fees if he could. So I took his advice and called again. Talked to another loyalty agent. He said that because these people had told me that I wouldnt have to pay he might be able to wave the cancellation fees and I'd only have to pay for the free computer I got when I signed the contract. So he was basically saying that instead of paying $600 I would only have to pay $360 at the most. That was a little better. Anyway he said he had to investigate a bit and then he would get back to me but he made me understand that I would at least get some sort of reduced price.

He just called me back and the only option I have is that I can either pay the full $600 or I can tranfer the contract over to someone else. At this point I feel scammed. I was told by so many people that I would be ok and now it seems like they were just saying that while moving was just a hypothetical possibility. They just wanted to make money off of me and so they were willing to lie to get me to sign a contract I was apprehensive to sign in the first place. This is a really bad way to treat your customers.

So let my experience with Telus be a lesson to everyone. If you do choose Telus, make sure you have written confirmation of everything that they say to you otherwise you're better off with Shaw whose service is actually alot better and more reliable.

I have also had a terrible experience with Telus.

I was promised several things I needed for my business by the fast talking sales person at the Telus mobility store.

Then when they could not deliver they tried to hold me to a contract to keep me from going to another company.

I decided to let it go to collections and settle the account there as I know that you can reduce the amount greatly when it gets to that stage.

So we settled and I paid them off completely at that point and even received a letter from the company.

About 6 months later the collections company started to call me again asking for more money. I forwarded them the letter that was sent to me saying the account was paid in full and they told me I needed to contact Telus.

Telus then informed me that I owed another $567.51 on top of what they had already charged me even thought he account had been closed almost a year earlier. No one can explain to me why they are billing me this amount only that it shows up on my file. even though I have my paid in full letter they insist that I am responsible for this mystery amount.

Telus mobility is the biggest scam going.

Stay away from Telus if you can.

Absolutely appauling what telus did to me just recently. I missed a payment in May - totally misplaced the telus bill and only realized that i did not pay when the following month's bill arrived - so I immediately paid for both May and June and thought all is well.

To my shock, looking over my July bill, I see a $30 Mobile Reconnection Charge!!!! .. talking to the Resolution Team over at Telus was the frustrating and agonizing experience i have even gone thru. Apparently a reconnection fee charging process is triggered authomatically when the bill goes over 27th of the month ... without notice or courtesy call or any type of notification ... and of course not having the May bill I was not aware that the bill was paid. If Telus has good intentions and want to keep their customers happy, the least they should be have done is to inform me that May's bill was not paid ... what a total rip-off and deceitfull way to make money .. wonder what other fees are being charged automatically without customer ever realizing it ...

No way I will ever sign a contract again with any of the big 3 cell carriers .. absolute money grab at every turn ....

Purchased my son the HTC Desire for Christmas. About 1 month ago the screen stopped working, sent it to Telus, was told today that the phone is not covered under warranty because they say there is internal damage. Externally the phone is brand new, no marks, scuffs, or anything to indicate it had been abused. But they say it was dropped...BS...I have to pay $170 to get a 2 month old phone fixed. Spoke to Lori Anne with Telus customer care department and she basically called me a liar, and was trying every trick in the book to BS me. Bastards thats all Telus is, been a customer since 2000.

Telus charged 350 a month on a 45 dollar phone bill. Said in 2 weeks I owed almost 7grand. Trying to say if I cancel my phones it'll cost 500 with another 600 on top to have them fully cancelled. I am so fn pissed off. I tried calling them (I have a 1 and a half yr old son) and they could hear my son playing with his puppy. (Real puppy chasing eachother) the guy pipes up and tells me to shut my son up or he won't help me and hang up. Iv been a telus costumer since 2000 and never had this problem until 9 months ago. If I don't pay the 1100 dollars to cancel my phone in 3 days the collection agency will harass me for the money. So I'm screwed and stuck with telus. When he told me to shut my son up I fn lost it on that guy. Got his full name and asked to talk to someone else. When I told the manager about him. She laughed and said then you should of made tour son shut up or throw him outside or lock him in his room. Who the FUCK do you think you are?
