Telus Mobility Phone Plan - Rip Off

Sphere: Related Content

I thought I'd pop in and share another story. Yes Telus, this blog will keep on going until you do something about your cusotmer service. Readers, enjoy!

I had a 3 year service contract for private cell phone with Telus Mobility. The contract ended and I started using a cell phone through my office so no longer needed my private line. I called to cancel the private cell was told by customer service to: give the account to my kids so they would be safe, give it to my parents so they could be safe, neighbors, etc.

I was then told it couldn't be canceled because I was in the middle of a monthly billing cycle. They continue to bill me for 2 months until I called then back and told them I was not going to pay for a cell phone I canceled and was not using. They told me they would just send the account to a collection agency if I didn't pay, which they did. They threated me with destroying my credit rating. I'm still getting harassing calls for the $40 almost 2 years later. They can get the money when they pry from my cold dead hands. What a horrible way to treat customers. I will never do business with them again.

I AM LIVID !!!!!!!

My wife got ripped off.

The exact same situation happened to us as above.

Contract ended October.

Bill for $138.00 comes November 3rd.
They claim that the fine print says we have to pay. (I was against paying, but the wife is a softy).
She was VERBALLY assured that if $138.00 was paid, no further charges would be made to the account. Not being a lawyer, she agreed to pay.
A bill was generated November 17th (supposedly prior to the conversation requesting account closure) for $50.44 and arrives December 2nd.

Today she called to complain and was told that if we paid this bill we will never receive another bill.

She will likely pay to preserve her credit rating, but I most certainly would not.

I suggest a class action lawsuit is in order and this unscrupulous company be ordered to undergo a moral investigation and change their business practices.

Telus is making MILLIONS ripping off their customers.

We will NEVER deal with Telus again.

I switched to Telus from Rogers purchasing a new Motorola Q for $299 with a three-year contract only to find out that I received no reception in my building. After explaining my dilemma to customer service and higher up, the continued response was "we don't guarantee reception and you signed a three-year contract. There is nothing we can do but you can pay the cancellation fee of $20/month for your 3 year contract."

Basically $720 was the only way out of their service contract. All together out of pocket was $1019 for the phone and to cancel service that didn't even work, not adding taxes in. In response I had to switch back over to Rogers and finally after 2 1/2 years of paying $45 per month for nothing, I have cancelled my Telus account and am paying a final cancellation fee of $120 left on 6 months for absolutely no used service and a phone that was never used.

If this isn't proof not to go with Telus, I don't know what is. They are thieves and don't care about their customers, only their pocketbook.

Their customer service representatives are very rude and certainly dont have people skills Aliant and Rogers and pretty much all the others except for telus have much better customer service skills.Telus is the most expense plan out there. If you value your wallet dont go with telus they will take the majority of your wallet. After my contract is up thats it for me I advise anyone out there to do the same and stay as far away from this company as they possibly can!!!!

telus mobility is the worst company ever to deal with ... there customer service is horible, they put people on the phone that has mental problems to deal with .. there is never a manager around to talk to ... I do not know why I stayed with them for so long ... over 15 years ... everytime I write a ba post they DELETE IT ... but I just signed a three year contract with them and had problems for 3 month with my phone and the features on it .. when I talked to 6 different people asking for a new phone .. they tell me that I signed the contract already and they can't do anything for me ....

With a provincial election upon us, can someone please get one of the political parties interested in this problem? Telus is no better than a loan shark and takes advantage of young people in particular. Ask almost any college student on a Telus contract and they'll tell you that the "low cost" contract they were sold ends up costing them hundreds each month. So, instead of buying groceries, they try to keep telus off their backs and eventually just try to end the contract. You know what that means - $500 or more just to get out of the contract!!

1.I signed up telus june 27th 2009, because they offered me good promotion that i get service of TV, internet and homephone.

2.A week later, telus stre agent called me and service for Tv service is not avilable in my area, so he asked me if i don't want the service i can cancle. so i did because tv was my priority service with good deal.

3.July 8th 2009, i got package from telus, which is modem, so i called store agent why i got this. He told me just returned it to telus.so i returned it through post office.

4.around july 20th, telus sent me statement, charging me high speed internet for $26.25. I called customer service what happened. They told me i'm using their service, no cancellation has been done. and asked me i have recept for returning modem, of course i had it, i gave them tracking number and it verified. I explained them there's something wrong, i haven't used your service yet,(i've been using shaw cable for more than 2years)and i want to cancle right now.
telus said no problem and they would not charge anything, i don't need pay for nothing.

5.Aug 20th 2009, i got second statement from telus, says owing money 2months high speed internet $47.79. i called customer service again, i found out service has not been cancled. i explained(they had record i called them july)
what happened, but all they said was they provide service so i have to pay. there must be mistake by call center agent, but they didn't listen to me. call center made a mistake why do i take a shit? i told them i wanna talk to supervisor and they siad this is the highest place i can talk to...i returned your modem, and settled july. and without modem, how can you provide your internet service? i mean, how can i use your service? how they force me to pay i havn't use any of service?

only they keep saying was pay bill because they provide me service!!

I have been with telus for four years now and i am looking to upgrade my phone and sign a new contract. My online account says there are special valued client offers so i took a look at them. They are exactly the same as the new client deals, the only difference is i can get out dated useless phones that new customers cant. I know for a fact that all other phone companies offer their current clients deals on new phones at contract end that new clients cant get. Telus likes to say they do but when you take a look you can see its nothing but a lie.

I have been rip off by TELUS MOBILITY:
We all know that telus bill us one month in advance for rate plans (to be used). This they call due account. If you do not pay this (unused services) within 30 days, 2% interest kick in. Now I received my bill yesterday May 10 2010 and immediately I paid previous month balance of $76.43. This morning may 11 2010, my tel was disconnected, and Telus want reconnection fees of $30 plus offcourse 2% interest already charged. I told them I will not pay it but i was told the only solution is to disconnect the service with a penalty of $483. What a scam is this. It is now disconnected and I am waiting for a hefty bill (GOLD MINE) offcourse for telus. I was threatened that if I do not pay I will be taken to credit Bureau!!!! Is this customer service??? is anybody reasening. I think we should establish a system to protect us from this kind of mistreatment from our big fat brothers. Economic Exploitation I guess fronm Telus!!!

I am on Telus' Voice 30 plan for my cell, which is supposed to cost $30 a month plus the stupid fees they have for added services. It should end up being $37, roughly. With this plan, you have the option to get double airtime minutes but pay for all messaging, unlimited messaging but pay for all airtime, or get free airtime and messaging to 5 numbers. I only really talk to 5 people, so I chose the 5 favorites option. I just looked at my bill, and they charged me for every message, sent and received, even though almost all of them were to/from my favorite numbers. That is supposed to be free. Instead, I have a $150 bill. I'm being screwed. I'm going to call them tomorrow. I'm not paying that. A similar thing happened last month when I changed my plan. They appear to have deleted my favorite numbers from my old plan, but it didn't show up right away, so I thought the 5 numbers from the last plan were carried over to the new one. When I got my bill a few weeks later, I found that I had no favorite numbers listed and that I was being charged $110. Bullshit. As soon as my contract is up, I'm never dealing with these idiots again.

i have also experience this one:They threaten me with destroying my credit rating. I'm still getting harassing calls for the $40 almost 2 years later. They can get the money when they pry from my cold dead hands. What a horrible way to treat customers. I will never do business with them again. But still we cannot do anything. We just need to wait and see for everyone has its own time.

I have only been with Telus for 3 months on and have been ripped off twice...That's enough for me... Time for a new phone with a different service provider, i do not recommend Telus to anyone. It's ridiculous and their customer service people are Rude and actually argue with you... Whatever happened to the customer is always right??

Anything over $100 claims doesn't affect your credit rating so you can tell them to shove it.
Windmobile has pretty good service and also provides pay as you go service.

Go with wind mobile. Their customer is nice(but doesnt know much). I used to be with Fido, though i was never screwed badly, i often see weird things popping up on my bill. I am now with wind, $29 a month for unlimited talk, data, msg, and its a pay before plan

Be careful before entering into a contract with this outfit. Read, and I do mean READ all the fine print. If anything goes wrong, and it usually does, they will talk to you and treat you like crap and leave you hanging. Every encounter is a confrontation from the beginning. They could treat you as the loyal customer that you are and try to work with you but that is a foreign concept in world of Telus. Trust me, don't let the cute animals commercials and the catchy slogan fool you, it is about bonuses and profit in Telusland, it is not about customer service. Oh and I'm talking about the mobility side of it, it is even worse on the wireline/internet TV side.

I cancelled my Telus contract July 27th, with my 3 year contract about to expire Aug 7th. Imagine my shock when I received a final bill with $100 tacked on as a termination fee. What a flipping rip off! It just shocks me that a major firm such as Telus can operate this way. What cost exactly are they recovering??? I am disgusted with the sheer lack of regard for they have for their clients and their lack of business integrity. And they wonder why they need to be regulated! I will never deal with Telus again, and will share my story with everyone I can.

I was on a pay as you go plan on a phone I bought for $50 00 paying 20= 25 ' I received acall one day from a gentleman suggesting he could fix me up on a promotion for 24 and change with unlimited text and talk. I asked what happened after a year he said it went up to $35 a month . That didn't sound too bad and I agreed . I received no contract in the mail and no bills . I get a text saying what I owe and pay through money mart.
Now my bill goes through the roof an I was made temporarily homeless so I had no computer access and other problems to deal with including loosing my wallet with all my id.
When I got settled and got ID I went to the Telus store to find out what was going on with my bill and was told that they are not Telus the were only selling the phones and gave me access on their computer and phone where I explained my situation . so they waived the reconnection fee and I paid them as much as I was able with a promise to pay off the remainder by mid may . I was told I owed $330 and change I paid $150 . Yesterday I get a text that I owe $500 plus so I went
online to see what and why they are calculating what I owe and I find I am being charged 50 a min for local calls .I do not loose my temper very often
an I told the flac catcher I was not impressed but my anger was not directed at her but for the people who "may" be recording . As far as I am concerned I do not have a contract with them because their bad faith makes it null and void . Or as we say in They can go **** themselves
